Barista/Front-of-House

Front of House staff are the point of contact between customers and fantastic baked goods, sandwiches, and coffee. As such, candidates should have basic knowledge of tea, coffee and espresso, and be able to quickly memorize menu items and descriptions. A strong understanding of hospitality and customer service skills are essential. Four shifts are available; Opening (6:30am-2pm), Mid-Day (7:30am-3pm or 9am-4:30pm), and closing (11am-6:30pm) shifts are available daily. Weekend and holiday availability is required.

Duties include:

  • Assist customers, using POS system and cash handling

  • Prepare coffee, espresso and tea beverages to order according to company standards

  • Take food orders and write tickets using shop shorthand notation

  • Maintain a clean dining room for customers and workspace for co-workers

  • Restock food, beverage and paper goods using proper rotation of stocks

  • Maintain a professional demeanor & appearance

  • Complete daily and weekly cleaning tasks

 

 

Prep Cook and Sandwich-Maker

Though we are a bakery, our savory soups, salads, and sandwiches win rave reviews from the community. The savory team works daytime shifts, a welcome change from the late-nights of dinner service restaurants. Opening/Breakfast shift runs from 6:30am-2pm; Lunch/Closing shift runs 10:30am-6:15pm. Sandwich-making, prep, and cleaning tasks are all shared amongst the team. Weekend and holiday availability is required.

Duties include:

  • Prepare menu items such as soups and sauces according to recipes provided

  • Assemble made-to-order sandwiches and salads quickly and to company standards

  • Accomplish daily prep and cleaning task list in a timely fashion

  • Utilize ovens, burners, knives, deli slicers, and scales in safe and sanitary manner

  • Maintain a clean workspace, professional demeanor & appearance throughout shift.

 

Bread Baker

The bread department is at the heart of the bakery. This area supplies breads to wholesale customers to our savory department for our house-made sandwiches, sweet doughs to the pastry department as well as producing our daily offering for retail sale. Minimum two years of experience in as professional kitchen required.

We are willing to train, but preference will be given to candidates with strong knowledge of bread baking such as baker's percentages, dough temperature control, maintaining sourdough pre-ferments, mixing, hand-shaping, and baking loaves in a hearth oven.

Efficiency, attention to detail, and love of the craft of baking are characteristics we both look for and foster in our employees.

Reliable transportation, weekend and holiday availability is required.

Duties include:

  • Mix, shape and bake breads according to shop methods and techniques

  • Prepare ingredients needed for specialty breads such as cooking grain soakers, cleaning and picking herbs, caramelizing onions, shredding cheese, etc

  • Package and label items for wholesale customers

  • Accomplish daily prep and cleaning task list in a timely fashion

  • Communicate daily with other members of bakery department regarding shared ingredients and base doughs

  • Maintain a professional demeanor & appearance
